Synopsis

Hairspray is the mother of all musicals! Tracy Turnblad, a girl with big hair and a super kind heart, dances all the way to television’s most popular dance show with the aim of inspiring her mum and still win the boy she loves!

Michael Ball, one of Britain’s leading musical stars, undergoes a major transformation to play Tracy’s larger than life mother Edna in what has been called ‘the role of his life’ (Daily Express). Comedian and actor Mel Smith, widely known for his comedy sketch series Smith and Jones, is ‘sheer comedy’ (Daily Mail) playing Tracy’s father Wilbur. Leanne Jones, ‘in an astonishingly accomplished stage debut’ (Evening Standard) plays Tracy, while Ben James-Ellis who first shot to fame on the reality TV show Any Dream Will Do plays heart-throb Link Larkin who’s been described as ‘a musical star’ (Sunday Times).
